Our music ministry is comprised of musicians, both instrumentalists and vocalists with varying levels of experience who volunteer their time as music ministers to enhance our liturgical celebrations. Our goal is to meet these musicians where they are and find a place for them within one of our ensembles; where they'll feel the most comfortable sharing their talents with our congregation. We strive to work, particularly with our vocalists and choral ensembles to help them develop their musical abilities and enable them to participate even more fully within our liturgies. The goal of the music ministry is to provide appropriate and well rehearsed musical selections which enhance and support our weekend and holiday liturgies. Additionally we strive to encourage the full participation of our congregation in singing of our masses through the support of our cantors and choirs. High-points in the liturgical year include our annual Christmas Cantata, a concert of choral music accompanied by a full orchestra, as well as our Christmas and Holy Triduum liturgies. We also look for opportunities to allow our ensembles to sing in the community and share their talents with a wider audience. This year we look forward to singing for the Binghamton Senators, Binghamton Mets, area nursing homes, and at the Oakdale Mall as part of their Christmas entertainment! Anyone interested in finding out how they can contribute to this ministry should contact our Director of Music, Matthew Vavalle, through his parish email mvavalle@syrdiocese.org, by appointment on Thursdays, by calling our office, or in person following any of our weekend masses.
